Impossible to find anything, impossible to navigate and it just looks so awful. I’ve gone from a very active member to someone who just logs in from time to time to see if they’ve gone back to a proper forum.

The most annoying thing about it is that the old forum worked fine for years. If there were issues with it, no one ever mentioned them. Then one day – bam! The forum is gone and this horribly confusing mess is there in its place.

Discord will never be a replacement for a proper forum and anything who thinks otherwise… well, they’re just wrong.

Don’t need to come up with a forum subcategory and thread name and then wait for someone to find your post who’s willing to help.
Would be nice to have both, but to reduce work (meaning costs), if only one could be kept, I would definitely rather keep Discord than forums.

There is apparently a bug with both the Normal and Steel Path versions of “The Circuit” game mode. If you go past the third round, it bugs and becomes impossible to finish. According to the forums, the devs hope to patch it sometime Thursday. Until then, extract after the third round or the mission will glitch and you lose all rewards because you have to Abort (or even flat out restart the game) to exit the mission.

Hopefully they’ll fix it on the 27th and my little note here will be irrelevant, old news.

One thing to take into account, the Brazilian culture of readily accepting piracy seem to have started back when there were no legitimate way to obtain most foreign content, including games; having your software impossible to purchase legally seems to be a sure way to make people consider it morally acceptable to pirate it. And piracy is pretty much normalized here; I mean, I’ve literally seen lawyers and judges chitchatting about where to download pirated content.

Heck, RPG players here often call the early adopters the “Xerox Generation”, because for a long time it was close to impossible to import the books, and thus almost everyone who played RPGs here in Brazil back then were doing it with pirated books. I myself have whole shelves full of decades-old spiral-bound photocopied RPG books.

Discord is a series of chat rooms. Chat rooms and forums have always been seperate things for a reason.

They’ll be sorry when people cant find the info they want, such as a random tech help post from 4 years ago that solves all your problems. Good, useful info will get lost over time and won’t be indexed by google. I’ve lost count of how many times an ancient forum post has helped me with game mechanics or performance issues. Without that info being readily available I would have abandoned many games.

Reddit will thrive instead at least.

Oh, one thing about picking Warframes and weapons – you can’t mod them in Duviri. But if you have a saved build (IE, you own the frame) you can choose to use *that* build instead of the preset created by the devs. Including Helminth powers, Arcanes, and Archon Shards. If someone hasn’t played enough to know what any of those are, don’t worry about it. They’re not necessary to progress, they’re just helpful for some of the very late-game builds.

It does mean that I’m probably going to have to take a few hours and go through and actually *fix* a lot of my older weapons that I haven’t used in like… years. Many of them have *extremely* old builds, and are very, very “not good” at doing much of anything. Like, literally, I’d be better off *throwing the pistol* at something with a couple of them. Even better if the enemy could pick it up, because then *they* would be fighting with a huge damage debuff instead of me.

I mostly liked the story, not so fond of “Drifter Melee Combat.” Trying to parry and dodge and dodge roll and… bleh. If I wanted Dark Souls, I’d play Dark Souls. And I’m a bit sad because the final cutscene glitched, and automatically skipped itself without asking me to even confirm. So I don’t even actually know for sure how it ended, and I’ll have to replay the entire thing to see.

:(

The mission stuff afterwards is… I hope they’re planning some major fixes. The “Circuit” is especially a problem, because the matchmaking teams everyone up BEFORE you pick your Warframe and gear. And one player can start the ten second mission timer before anyone else even finishes loading in. If you don’t pick, the game randomly picks for you. What’s that? You didn’t want to play a frame you don’t own yet with default mods and weapons you’ve never seen before? Too bad, the mission host is a busy person and you’re starting the run NOW.

Personally I won’t touch the piece of trash that is Discord. I want voice comms that bad I’ll fork out the money for a TeamSpeak server. Discord is clunky to set up, non-intuitive to use, and a general pain in the rear. It does nothing that something else doesn’t do better

I can tell you why Amazon wants to switch to it though. Its so anything they say or do nothing about won’t be around for a reporter or lawyer to find. Nothing more and nothing less.

There is just so much more for the casual or solo player to engage with now than there was in Wrath, and its not even close. That is an objective, empirical truth.

Uh…why do you think i’m arguing wether Retail has more stuff to do right now than in Wrath?

I’m not. I’m arguing if Retail has anything more to offer than OTHER MMOs. I don’t care if Wrath had a lot or a little. Why is Wrath even part of this conversation, actually? WoW players are leaving for greener pastures, and normally that means other MMOs.

Btw, half of that list overlaps. Several of those answers are just “doing old unsupported content”.

Probably Microsoft. I can’t speak for other places, but Brazil’s culture with piracy is huge and deep. We really don’t care if the companies are here or not.

I can count on my fingers the number of people i’ve met who bought Windows XP. I knew entire corporations that had pirated their XP Pro.

Losing a potential 220 million clients market is not really something they can just brush off.

Comment on Activision-Blizzard Q1 2023: ABK revenues are up as Blizzard MAUs fall back down to reality by Neowolf2 https://massivelyop.com/2023/04/26/activision-blizzard-q1-2023/#comment-918719 Wed, 26 Apr 2023 21:15:29 +0000 https://massivelyop.com/?p=437352#comment-918719 I believe the China loss is at least partially represented in these MAU numbers. As I recall, they compute MAU by averaging over the three months of the quarter. In each month a player counts as a MAU (for a game) if they played at all during that month.

Good reply! It shouldn’t be on people with disabilities to be their only advocates. If you don’t make some basic effort to support the most common disabilities, those players simply won’t play; they won’t hang around and beg you to fix something. And it’s bad business besides: Colorblindness, for example, affects something like 8-9% of the human population.

“told the EU last time with Bethesda that they wouldn’t pull off the crap they did eventually do making future games exclusives to platforms that support their gamepass.”

Microsoft didn’t make any “commitments” to EU regulators not to release Xbox-exclusive content following its takeover of ZeniMax Media, the European Commission has said.
